Child & Youth Trauma Services (CYTS) is a voluntary program for children, youth and adults that want support services. Participants whom choose to utilize our services are provided case management, one-on-one counseling and support groups.
Parenting groups will be held at the white house in Ronan. (This depends on the # of individuals interested/ who sign up)
What is the purpose of our program?
CYTS goal is to improve quality of existing services and provide direct services to children, youth and their families via trauma informed practices.
And to provide….
training to staff to reinforce and/or increase knowledge of effective trauma-focused treatment. Our intent is to assist in establishing a prevention driven service that will help workers increase their skills and develop their expertise in delivering trauma-informed treatment.
What is Trauma Informed Care (TIC)?
It’s recognizing that people often have many different types of trauma in their lives. It’s about being non-judgmental and refraining from using critical language while staying neutral, and objective; It’s understanding that people who have been traumatized need support from those around them; It’s supporting and building self-efficacy, taking an empathetic stance and listening reflectively.
Why is Trauma Informed Care important in our work?
It provides strategies with the goal being minimal disruption to individuals lives and to prevent further traumatization; its about helping facilitate recovery and empowerment to individuals.

it’s an approach to engaging people with histories of trauma; it facilitates recovery, empowers and values everyone involved with our services.
What does this mean for CYTS and our work in the next five years?
CYTS staff is working to establish and recognize on all levels of our services: healing happens in relationships-believing that authentic and positive relationships is restorative to trauma, and building resiliency.
CYTS will increase awareness of the effect of traumatic events on individuals at different ages and in a cultural context.
CYTS will develop strong partnerships with other system providers to develop common goals.
